1-12 June is National Volunteers’ Week!

Thank you for sharing your time and talents to help your sisters and brothers around the world. You are at the heart of our work. Please join us this coming Tuesday – 7th June – to celebrate your work and that of volunteers from all over the UK to Uganda! You can meet our Ugandan volunteers online by coming to the Centre in Chester or by registering online for the webinar: Tuesday, 7 June, 10-11am Register here After meeting our partners’ volunteers we will have a few activities, hold a liturgy (about midday) and then have a shared lunch. Please join us for all or part of the morning.

Emergency appeal in response to the food crisis in Ethiopia. Please look out for an email with further details of how you can support this appeal.

 You are invited to a Power to the People campaign event

On Saturday July 9th 9.30 – 4.30pm, you can build on your campaigning skills, get up to date with CAFOD’s One Climate, One World campaign, meet other campaigners and hear from Takura Gwatinyanya from Caritas Harare in Zimbabwe about why your campaigning matters. Sign up for the free Manchester event here at Loreto College Chichester Road South, Manchester M15 5PB. If you can’t make it, events are running all over the country and all are welcome. There’s still a chance to hear from Takura and from CAFOD’s campaigns team at a webinar on Friday 15 July, 1-2pm. Register here.

Lampedusa Cross – Year of Mercy pilgrimage

The first Parishes have received and passed on our Cross and the first messages have been delivered to refugees on Lesbos. Thank you. If your Parish is holding the Cross please use the simple and powerful liturgies to inspire and draw us all closer to God as we seek to make a difference. Also please ask people to sign the messages of hope and send them to me at our Volunteer Centre. If you receive the Cross and you need more resources, please get in touch. A few weeks are still available.

Wirral Coastal Walk for CAFOD June 12th

Please come and take part in the Wirral Coastal Walk on Sunday 12th June for CAFOD’s Syria Appeal!  You can have a wonderful day out with family and friends walking 5, 10 or 15 miles depending how energetic you feel.  Registration is at Seacombe Ferry 8.30 to 10.30 am (£5 each and £1 for under 10s). Details and sponsor forms from Finbarr Stewart 0151 632 5504 or 645 9124.  It’s a fantastic day for a fantastic cause!  If you’d like to wear a CAFOD T shirt on the day, please call 01244 677524.

Talk and Refugee Liturgy

On 23rd June from 7pm onwards, Alan Tomlinson, CAFOD’s Emergency Programme Manager – Syria Crisis response will be talking about our work in Syria. This will then be followed by the Refugee reflection liturgy. The venue is Holy Family Parish, 65 Old Hall Road, Sale Moor, Cheshire M33 2HT. All are welcome. Contact michael-coughlan@hotmail.co.uk
