May Newsletter

I hope you are enjoying the summer while it lasts!

We have a busy few months ahead of us here in CAFOD Shrewsbury. I am really looking forward to all the events especially as I hope to have the pleasure of meeting some of you for the first time.

Bishop Davies with Lampedusa cross

Lampedusa Cross

I am thrilled to say that the take up, for having the Cross in your parish, has been fantastic. So much so, that I now have a second genuine Lampedusa Cross so that more of you will have a chance to have it in your churches. Thus, there are now more dates available. Please do get in touch with me – if you have not already done so – to book a week. The Bishop is keen to hold a service once the Cross arrives in the Cathedral. Watch this space for a date! In the meantime why not read the piece on the diocesan website

Campaign events

We are holding three of the above and invite you and your fellow parishioners to come along and find out about the Paris agreement (from our own volunteer Pauline Derwas) and what next for the campaign. The meetings are on the following dates from 7 – 9pm (6.30 pm onwards teas/coffee):

Tues 17 May St Patrick’s Wellington, Telford, TF1 3AP

Weds 25 May Our Lady’s, Enfield Road, Ellesmere Port, CH65 8BY

Thurs 26 May St Mary’s, Gatefield Street, Crewe, CW1 2JP

Celebration of all that YOU do

It is National Volunteers Week in June and I would like to celebrate it with as many of you as possible. I invite you to a Celebration day during the week 6th to 10th June in our centre at St Clare’s, Chester. We will hold a celebration liturgy and have a shared lunch. The highlight of the event will be sharing stories on skype with volunteers from one of our Ugandan partners.  I will let you know the exact date and time as soon as we have heard from our partners. I realise this is annoyingly vague but please bear with me and note the event in your diary for that week, so you don’t miss out!

Wirral Coastal Walk

Wirral Walk_2016

Come and enjoy the sun (hopefully) and the beautiful views whilst walking from Seacombe Ferry to Thurstaston Country Park Visitor Centre and raise funds, at the same time, for CAFOD’s Syria Crisis appeal. Sunday June 12th.
