Sue and I visited the Kerala community on June 1st at St Elizabeth’s Church in Peel Hall. We were invited by Fr Sajimon Kuriakose to visit the San Thom Youth Group. They had been very active during Lent, holding a variety of events and raised £732 for CAFOD. They certainly “Dug Deep for Lent” and particularly wanted their donations to support water projects. Sue and I were delighted to be able to share something of our work in Water and Sanitation in northern Ethiopia through the eyes of Lem Lem, a young Ethiopian woman, a water engineer, working for one of our partners in the area. Lem Lem visited England and Wales in 2012 to share her work with our communities.

The San Thom Youth Group were very attentive and responsive. We were then invited to Mass where we were presented with a donation of £ 3,601 which the community generously donation to CAFOD for the people of the Philippines.

It was a real privilege for us to visit such a warm and welcoming community who as well as supporting each other show such generosity in support and prayer for our brothers and sisters overseas who are in such need.
