For many years people from the Shrewsbury Diocese travelled across to Liverpool on December 27 for the Annual Fun Run. Originally held at Upholland and run moved to its current location in Wavertree. A group of the Shrewsbury runners decided to set up “Daughter of Liverpool” and organize a Fun Run at St Gregory’s Bollington. The initial run in 2010 was cancelled because of icy conditions. However undeterred the run has taken place very successfully for the last three years. Keith, the organizer, with his great team, set up the course (which runs along the canal), register the runners, act as marshalls and provide refreshments.
This year the race was started by the Lord Mayor of Bollington and about 200 runners of all ages took part. Some walk, some run and others do a mixture of both. The atmosphere is lively and great fun is had by all.
Father Pascale told us:
“I am visiting St Albans Parish from Nigeria, but before I was here I was in Rome studying Theology. It’s been a really good day out though, I’ve had a lovely Christmas over here!”
A group from St Albans Parish Enjoyed the day with Kevin Wright on the far right telling us-
“We know all about CAFOD through St Albans, our local Parish. It’s been a lovely day, and so nice to do something after Christmas for such a good cause, and to get out and about in the fresh air!”
