Information for CAFOD Walkers
Thank you for deciding to take part in the Wirral Coastal Walk on 23rd May 2010 and helping CAFOD to raise funds . We hope to encourage as many people as possible to take part in an effort to do even better than last year despite the financial downturn. The money raised, through sponsorship, will be used to support CAFOD’s work in over 50 countries where our programmes reduce poverty, bring about sustainable change and provide humanitarian programmes.
In the past six years walkers have raised over £99,000. All who take part in the walk say how much they enjoy it. Walkers include individuals, families, parishes , Confirmation, youth, scout, guide and brownie groups.
You can walk 5, 10 or 15 miles depending on how energetic you feel. The route is mainly flat and a suitable walk for families including the young and not so young. There are toilets on route and parking is available at Seacombe Ferry.
The route starts at Seacombe Ferry and is flat and suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. There are stop off points at 5 miles King’s Parade New Brighton. The second stop off at 10 miles is at The King’s Gap. The walk of 15 miles finishes at Thurstaston Country Park.

Please pay the registration fee of £3.00 to Rotary Club organisers prior to starting the walk.
Please note that sponsorship money can be increased by 28p in the pound where sponsors are UK tax payers and they Gift Aid the money by ticking the appropriate boxes on the Sponsor Form and including their post code.
All sponsor money to be given to the CAFOD organisers Finbarr Stewart, Fr Michael Hartley,(St Werburgh’s Presbytery) Sue Bownas and Pat Lynch no later than Friday 25th June 2010. All sponsor forms to be returned to Finbarr Stewart for the processing of the Gift Aid.
All pupils who take part should give their sponsor money to a nominated teacher in school.)
Presentation of Cheque
The money raised will once again be presented to CAFOD at a Charity evening at
St Joseph’s Parish Club, Birkenhead on Friday 9th July 2010at 8.00pm. So do put this date in your diary
Music by Michael Coyne. The afternoon will include an auction, raffles and bingo.
Admission £5.00 ( Complimentary tickets will be available for all those who have taken part in the walk.)
Donations for the auction and raffle prizes most welcome. Please give donations to the organisers or bring them on the day.
